Zojoji Temple is a popular tourist attraction in Shibakoen Minato-ku, Japan. In the year 1393, this wonderful Japanese temple was constructed. However, in 1598, the temple was shifted to its current location. It stands beside the Tokyo Tower and is assumed to be the major temple of the Buddhist religious group of Jodo. Roppongi Prince Hotel, Onarimon station and sporting complex of Shiba Park are also in close proximity to this well-known Tokyo temple. It is said that during the reign of Edo, this temple complex was very powerful and rich.
The temple covers approximately an area of 66 hectare and features over 100 administrative buildings

and 48 small temples. The Sangedatsumon is the main gate of this Zojoji Temple. In the year 1605, this gate was built in the style of Chinese Tang Dynasty. The temple is dedicated to the saint, Jizo and comprises a number of statues. It is said that the small statues are used for the babies' burial ceremonies.
This wonderful temple has a big copper-made bell, whose sound is loud enough to be heard across the Bay of Tokyo. No admission fee is charged to enter this temple complex. The temple is not only popular among the common mass of Japan, but people from different corners of the world come here to visit this sacred place.
