Sunshine 60 Building

Sunshine 60 Building is an architectural marvel of Toshima-ku, Tokyo, Japan. By taking a train to the station Ikebukuro, one can reach this place conveniently. The building comprises shops, hotels, offices, Starlight Dome planetarium, aquarium and several others. Here one will come across an indoor theme park. This park was known as Namco Namja Town and consists of a haunted house and a series of restaurants.

It is said that the current location of Sunshine 60 Building was previously occupied by the Japanese Sugamo Prison. Usually the war criminals of Japan were kept in this place. In the year 1978, this building was constructed. Until 1991, this 60 storeyed building was considered to be the tallest Japanese building.
However, after the completion of Metropolitan Government Building of Tokyo, it became the 2nd tallest building of Japan.

This high-rise building comprises 60 floors and is around 240 meters high. It is said that due to the favorable geographic location, Sunshine 60 Building enjoys immense popularity. This skyscraper is situated almost at the center of Ikebukuro, the commercial and entertainment district of Tokyo.

The lifts of this Tokyo skyscraper move at an approximate speed of 600 meters/minute. Hence, much time is not required to reach the top-most floor. The building also houses an observation deck, which is situated on the top floor. This open air deck is known as the Sunshine 60 Observation Deck and offers a panoramic view of the Japanese city of Tokyo.
