The Japan - U.S Security Treaty was initially signed on 8th September 1951 in San Francisco. Thereafter it was amended and signed on 19th January 1960 in Washington. The primary objective of this treaty, consisting of ten articles is settlement of international disputes in a peaceful manner. As per the treaty, international peace, justice and security of all politically independent nations shall not be endangered in bringing about a peace process.
Tokyo Economic Development in Post War Period
After the aftermath of the Second World War, Japan began its reconstruction and resurgence phase. Japanese government and people put in all their effort in rebuilding the economy. For about a decade Japan became a closed economy to protect its industries and market from foreign competition. This helped to strengthen the country as an industrial economy. Tokyo post World War II has earned for itself a prominent place in the political, economic, technological and sports scenario of the world. It has emerged to become one of the most powerful cities of the 21st century.
