Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival, Tokyo

Japan is very famous for the Cherry Blossom Festivals that are held during the spring season. The main highlights of the Japanese cherry blossom festivals are folk music, dance programs, concerts, rides, games, kimono shows, flower displays, parades, beauty pageants, religious ceremonies and many more.

This season in Japan marks the return of fresh cherry blossom flowers that spread far across like a beautiful velvet sheet. The best time to see the full bloom cherry blossoms is during the first week of April. During this time the festival is held at two famous locations namely the Ueno Park and Shinjukugyoen.

'Hana-mi' which means 'flower-watching' is an interesting part of the cherry blossom festival. Japanese consider Hana- mi to be a refreshing sport. They just love to visit the Sakura or the cherry trees and picnic beneath the beautiful sweet-smelling, shady groves.
