TOKYO IMMIGRATION INFORMATION

Visa Services: The citizens of USA and some other countries, which have a Reciprocal Visa Exemption Arrangement with Japan, (some of these countries are Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Singapore, etc.) do not require a visa to stay in Japan for 90 days or less for non-employment purposes like attending meetings or conferences, sightseeing, etc. For this, the entrants have to present their passport and a confirmed return ticket to the immigration officer on their arrival in Japan. The nationals of other countries have to procure a visa before being allowed entry into Japan. The type of visa they must obtain depends on the purpose of their visit to Japan. However, all visitors who enter Japan for employment purposes, including US nationals, must obtain a visa before being allowed to enter Japan.

Immigration Services: Tokyo is among the four top Alpha cities of the world, thus many people seek to immigrate here to make a better life for themselves. Any person who is not a national of Japan may become a Japanese national by naturalization. To become a Japanese national, a person must have been living in Japan for five years or more consecutively. He or she must be 20 years or more of age. He must be able to earn his living here. The acquisition of Japanese nationality will result in the loss of the alien's original nationality. The last condition that a person must fulfill is that he or she must have never attempted to overthrow the government of Japan.
