Edo Tokyo Museum was established in 1993 with the objective of preserving Edo-Tokyo heritage. Edo Museum in Tokyo highlights various aspects of Edo life from 1590 to 1964. Different aspects like history, tradition, art, architecture and disaster of Edo-Tokyo livelihood have been displayed in this Tokyo Museum.
The Edo Tokyo Museum with a height of almost 622 meters resembles the Edo Castle tower. There are different exhibition zones in this Japanese museum. They are:
- Edo Zone - An exact model of the Nihonbashi Bridge is the main attraction of this zone. The other interesting displays reflect Edo culture, economy, and lifestyle.
- Tokyo Zone - In this zone one witnesses the

transition of Edo into Tokyo. The aftermath of Second World War and the reconstruction of Tokyo and Japan thereafter have been displayed in an attractive fashion.
Special exhibitions, lectures, and audio-visual shows are held regularly for visitors. An audio-visual library, a book library lend out audio-visual material and books respectively as per the requirements of the visitors. The Edo Tokyo Museum has arrangements for volunteer guides, guide earphones, coin rooms, wheelchairs and baby carriages, nursery room to make viewing a pleasure.
Edo-Tokyo Museum remains open from 9:30am till 5:30pm and till 7:30pm on Saturdays. It is conveniently located near Ryogoku station on Japan Railways Sobu line, and Ryogoku Subway station on the Oedo line.
