Edo-Mae


Edo-mae is one of the most popular food preparations of Tokyo. This particular delicious Japanese dish is also known as Nigiri-sushi. Sushi is mainly popular as a diet food. It is believed that a chef named Yohei Hanaya invented the style of preparing Nigiri Sushi. The dish derived its name from the Japanese city of Edo.

The main ingredients that are used to prepare Edo-mae include sliced fresh fish, sushi rice, diluted vinegar and rated wasabi. The sliced fishes are dipped in soy sauce to preserve the original taste of the fish. The sushi rice is mixed with vinegar for better taste.Though Edo-mae can be made within few minutes, a specific procedure has to be followed.
The zuke method, sosaku sushi and Edo style sushi are some of the prominent ways of preparing the delicacy.

Sushi can also be categorized on the basis of its different shapes. Among them the most important types include Tawara, Jigami, Funazoko, Tawara. Funazoko type is one of the most preferred forms of Sushi which is savored with great enthusiasm by the inhabitants of Tokyo.

There are number of restaurants in the city that offers the delicacy of Edo-mae. The Edo-mae sushi is a complete cuisine that is relished with delight by the indigenous population of Tokyo.
