The Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry established in 1878 has nine divisional groups to promote the development of their respective group industries. The objective of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tokyo is to create an ambiance that allows healthy growth of the economy.
To create such an environment the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) has segmented its activities.
The activities of Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry can be classified into:
- Enhancement of Networking – The TCCI enables its members to enhance their personal networking activities for furthering their business activities. Nine divisional groups have been created for networking purposes. These groups comprise i) manufacturing, ii) wholesale trade, iii) commerce, iv) finance, v) transportation, vi) information industry and services, vii) natural resources and energy, viii) construction and real estate, and ix) international trade. In addition, TCCI has organized a Women's Club for enabling the women managers to build networks and thereby allowing them to express themselves.
- TCCI Member Services – TCCI Member Services include business expansion, human resource development, management and start-ups, information technology, and improvement of employee welfare.

- Community Development Activities – In its endeavor to create a 'Healthy Japan' TCCI functions closely with local committees and business communities. Forming Town Management Organizations for creating a proper balance between economic well being and healthy living is a primary activity of Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
- Advocacy – The TCCI puts forward the views and suggestions of its member organizations to the governmental agencies and the Japanese Parliament, Diet. The TCCI supports the development of small manufacturing enterprises (SME), influences the fiscal policy of the government so as to help the growth of trade and commerce, and arranges finance for its member concerns as and when required.
- International Activities – TCCI acts as the ASEAN – Japan Economic Council secretariat. It works towards creating a forum whereby Japanese business community can be exposed to multilateral trade and investment opportunities, and expansion and transference of technology.
