The Garden of Remembrance


The Garden of Remembrance is a well maintained garden in the heart of Dublin city. Daithi Hanly is the creator of this garden that has emerged as one of the popular tourist sites of Ireland. This Dublin Garden was constructed in 1966 to mark the 50th anniversary of Easter Rising in 1916. It was dedicated in memory of those who lost their lives in the freedom movement of the country.

The Garden of Remembrance in Dublin houses an Oisin Kelly Sculpture and a rectangular shaped pond. The pond was built in the center of the garden. The huge Oisin Kelly Sculpture is based on the 'Children of Lir ' theme. This sculpture depicts the tragic story of four children who were converted into swans by the
step mother. The garden is opened between 8.30 am to 7.30 pm from Monday to Saturday and on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm.

This Dublin Garden is an ideal place to hangout with your family members. It is one of the Irish gardens, which was founded by the President of Ireland, Eamon de Valera. There is no restrictions on photography and Video but commercial photography requires special permission of the authorities. No admission fee is charged from the visitors. The visiting time last for one hour.
