The Royal Dublin Society (RDS) is a reputed and well established Club that offers excellent venues for organizing exhibitions, seminars, concerts and other cultural events. The aim of RDS is to encourage the growth of science, arts, agriculture, handicrafts and industry in Ireland.
In 1731, the Dublin society was founded by fourteen men who called it the 'Dublin Society for improving husbandry, manufactures and other useful arts. In 1820 the Royal prefix was added when George IV joined as a patron of the Society. 15 acres of land were acquired by the society in Ballsbridge in 1879. The first Shows of the society at Ballsbridge was held in 1881. The RDS has become Ireland's most successful events complex with hundreds of national and international events held at Ballsbridge each year. Presently the society has nearly forty acres of land under it with numerous restaurants, exhibition halls, bars, meeting rooms and stadium.
