Zanjan




Zanjan is the province of Iran famous for the mass production of seedless grapes. The province of Zanjan lies in the north western part of the country of Iran. Zanjan province covers an area of 36,400 square kilometers.
The province of Zanjan is dominantly rural. The Azeri population makes the major part of the population of Zanjan. The province of Zanjan maintains a freeway communication with the capital of Iran, Tehran. The Zanjan province is situated 330 kilometers to the northwest of Tehran.

The province of Zanjan is bordered by the seven provinces of Western Azarbaijan, Eastern Azarbaijan, Hamadan, Gilan, Kordestan, Ardabil and Ghazvin. The counties that comprise the province of Zanjan are Abhar County, Khodabandeh County, Eejrud County, Khorramdarreh County, Zanjan County, Mahneshan County and Tarom County.

The Zanjan province comprises of mountains as well as plains. The season of winter is quite moderate in the plains of Zanjan. The cold weather is witnessed in the mountains of Zanjan. Snowfall is even recorded during that time in Zanjan. The summers in Zanjan are pretty warm. The winter can be very chill in Zanjan. At times it has even recorded minus 27 degrees Celsius. The season of spring records an average rainfall of 72 mm.



The province of Zanjan though rural is no short of tourist sites. The Zanjan's Museum of Anthropology is a hot favorite destination spot for the tourists. In this museum, the tourists can feel the essence of the Qajari era. The tourists never miss to visit the cave in Zanjan. The cave is named as Katala Khor. The cave lies very close to Sultaniyeh.
