Rasht




Rasht is a major province in the north western part of Iran. The province of Rasht makes the capital of Gilan province. The business persons frequently visit the province of Rasht. The province of Rasht is always busy because of its location.
Rasht province has emerged itself as a dominant trade center between Russia, Caucasia and Iran by using the port of Bandar-e Anzali. The business of tourism is one more source of revenue earning for the province of Rasht.

According to 2005 estimates, the approximate population is estimated as 560,123. The dominant language in the province of Rasht is Gileki. The language of Gileki has a close relation with Mazanderani. Gileki is further sub categorized into two major dialects - Bie-pish and Bie-pas. The people of Rasht usually speak the Bie-pas dialect. The eastern part of Gilan is accustomed with the Bie-pish dialect. Although Gileki is accepted as the major spoken language in Rasht, it is not recognized as the officail language. The other languages spoken by the people of Rasht are Persian and Taleshi.



Anyone with an interest in the historical sites would like to pay a visit to the land of Rasht. Even in the modern day Rasht, one can trace the remains of Sassanid era. Rasht is a province that has witnessed the armies of Peter the Great and Russian rulers. Rasht had also been a colonized part of British army. The Constitutional Revolution of Iran has a close relationship with Rasht since the people of Rasht played a major contribution in the revolution.
