Yogyakarta is a city in theYogyakarta Special Region in Indonesia. The city, which was formed in 1755, was the seat of Javanese Empire of Mataram, Ngayogyakarto Hadiningrat. It is one of the main cultural centers of Java.

Area & Location: Stretching from the slopes of Mt. Merapi in the north to Indian Ocean to the south, it covers an area of 32.5 sq. km. The city has a population of 511, 744 with density of 15,601.2 per sq. km.

Tourist Attractions: The city, which is a developing tourist attraction, has various historical monuments and architectures that date back to the origin of the city.

Transportation: Adisucipto International Airport serves the city. The two passenger railway stations Tugu, the inter-city station and Lempuyangan handles many trains that connect the city with other regions. It has an extensive bus system. The motorbikes, cars, taxis include the public transportation in the city.
