Vishram Baug Pune |

Vishram Baug Pune is often visited by tourists in the city. This building was erected by Bajirao Peshwa II about 300 years ago in Pune. The main attraction of this building is its balcony constructed at the very entrance of Vishram Baug.
One of Pune's tourist destinations is Vishram Baug. The building has 3 storeys, which are entirely made of bricks. This fascinating building was constructed in 1811. It is located on Bajirao Road in Pune city. The building was built by spending about one lac rupees. It was built as a residential quarter for Bajirao II. This building was badly affected by a fire in 1880. However, later on it was restored to its original form.

The balcony of this building is decorated with woodworks, which is a good example of the Suru form of art and architecture. The wood from which the decorative carvings of the balcony were done was prepared from processed saag. These carved wood works are reflective of the aesthetic senses of Peshwas. In the mansion visitors will find vases, chandeliers and paintings that belonged to the Peshwa rulers of Pune.
After the end of the Peshwas, the Vishram Baug Pune was used to imprison people. But the Municipal Corporation of Pune has decided to house a museum in the building of Vishram Baug. The building's close affinity to Maratha history also upholds the heritage of ancient India.
