St Mary’s School, Pune, set up in the year 1866, is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, which conducts the ICSE examinations. With the motto “I Serve”, the school aims in making each and every student a perfect human being not only through the development of their skill and knowledge but also moral and physical growth. St Mary’s School is located on the General Bhagat Marg in Pune, Maharashtra, and is right opposite to St Mary’s Church.

The school is set in a beautiful, isolated and tranquil surrounding with gulmohar and banyan trees all around. The buildings designs are a blend of the old and the modern. The boy’s school and the girl’s school are on the same campus but their timings are different. The boy’s school works from 7.40 am to 1.30 pm while the girl’s school is from 8.40 am to 3.30 pm. There are different facilities on the campus like swimming pool, large playground and library.

The school was run by catholic sisters from the year 1866 to 1977,after which administration became

secular and Mrs. Elizabeth Mathew became the vice principal of the school. Initially the school comprised only 840 students but under her administration, it reached to 2700. She set up the boy’s school in the year 1992.
Child-centered Learning
Students are required to take English as their 1st language, Hindi as second language and Marathi as their third language. The school aims to make learning easy and fun for the children. There is a nice playground for the nursery children. For the higher classes, library periods are a part of their school timetable. The classes have audio video facilities to enhance teaching in a more modern way. Sports facilities include hockey, basketball, football which students must participate in as apart of their school activity. Quiz, extempore and inter house debates, concerts and musical shows are organized by the school on a regular basis.
