Shindes Chhatri Pune |

Shindes Chhatri is one of the remarkable architectural monuments in the city of Pune. This fabulous monument was built in honor of the brave worrier Mahadji Shinde, because of which it is also called Mahadji Shinde's Chhatri. It is only 2 kilometers from the race courses of Pune. Shindes Chhatri is situated at Vanowari that is only 5 kilometers away from Pune city.
The Historical Monument of Pune
The architectural beauty of this monument is such that anyone visiting it once will always love to see it again. This edifice of Pune reflects the Rajasthani style of architecture. On the walls of this building people can see wonderful floral designs. It comprises a small balcony. Inside this monument, a number of accessories can be found. They are equipments that were used by Mahadji Shinde and his family.
Inside the building, there is a silver portrait of this great

worrier. This great man had been Maratha Army's commander-in-chief. From the period between 1760 and 1780 Mahadji Shinde remained in that position. In this portrait this worrier is seen to be wearing a reddish yellow colored turban and a wonderfully embroidered shawl. Umbrella used by this great personality has also been displayed over here. Visitors are not allowed to open this umbrella as it is considered as a mark of disrespect to Mahadji Shinde.
The entry fee to this museum is Rs. 1 per person. Visitors are always requested to maintain silence while exploring the museum complex. Shindes Chhatri Pune is not only an architectural marvel, but also provides information regarding India's past history.
From Sinhagad fort it is 8 kilometers away, whereas, from Pune camp, the monument is located at an approximate distance of 4 kilometers. Many people consider this Hindu Chapel to be a Vastushastra's ideal example.
