Peshwe Udyan Zoo Pune, a favorite amongst the children, is a popular tourist attraction of Pune. It is situated in close proximity to the Saras Baug. The Municipal Corporation of Pune takes care of this zoo. It houses a wide variety of animal species and birds and the major attractions of this place include animal rides, play park, toy-train (phool rani) ride, slides, sea-saws and boating complex.
Children's Favorite Spot
The zoo is a favorite amongst the children. In the past, the Peshwas planted a number of trees over here. Later, the Municipal Corporation built a zoo and a garden at this same site and named it the Peshwa Udyan. The zoo remains open to the public from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Since the zoo is not close to the city center, people can enjoy the tranquility of the Pune zoo. Visitors are allowed permission from 9.00 A.M to 5.30 P.M.
Peshwe Udyan Zoo Pune has a lake within its garden complex. In the time of spring, different types of lovely flowers can be seen in this place. It is because of this reason that the number of tourists visiting this zoo during this season is the highest. It also has an old temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Built during the 17th century, this temple is situated within the garden premises. Its wall decorations and fine architectural design have made it a popular place for worship.
Peshwe Udyan Zoo Pune is also considered to be a favorite picnic spot, where the local people and tourists can spend some lovely time with their near and dear ones.
