Kasturba Samadhi |

Kasturba Samadhi is located in Pune in India. This has been built in the memory of Gandhiji's wife Kasturba. Kasturba Samadhi has been built near the Aga Khan Palace in Pune. This palace has been later renamed as Gandhi National Museum. Kasturba Samadhi is occasionally visited by tourists in Pune.
Kasturba Samadhi has developed to a popular tourist spot in Pune. Aga Khan Palace was used to imprison people by the British rulers. Gandhiji was kept under confinement by the British in this very palace. It was in this palace that Kasturba breathed her last during her imprisonment. She was kept here as she had an active participation in the Quit India Movement against the British.
After her death, a burial place was built in memory of

this renowned lady. Kasturba Samadhi in Pune was set up in the nearby area of Aga Khan Palace. The ashes of Kasturba have been kept in this samadhi. Kasturba Samadhi is built entirely from white marble. Near the samadhi, or memorial of Kasturba, Gandhi's statue has been placed. Charles Correa is the person who has designed this memorial.
Local visitors and tourists in Pune can visit Kasturba Samadhi. It is opened for the visitors from 9 in the morning and till 6 in the evening. During recess, from 12.30 to 1.30 pm, the memorial remains closed. The entry fee to visit this memorial is 5 rupees for adults and for children it is only 2 rupees. In the Gandhi National Museum, visitors can see the belongings of Kasturba.
