Reaching the temple is not a very easy task, as the worshippers have to climb two hundred steps. The temple of Khandoba boasts of two beautiful bells and a number of idols. Historical Significance of Jejuri
Aurangzeb tried to destroy the temple in 1690, but was not successful in it. It is said that the Mughal army, by chance disturbed a nest of hornets, which in turn harassed the soldiers and compelled them to leave the idea of destroying the temple. The place also holds a lot of historical significance, as Shivaji and Sahaji had discussed their war strategy against the Mughals at this place. A number of weapons of that time were also found there.
