Hutchings High School is a coeducational institution, located on Phayre Road in Pune, the capital of Maharashtra. Affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, the school is considered to be one of the best in the city.
Hutchings High School Objectives
Comprising of classes from Pre-nursery to the tenth standard, the school has more than 1700 students. The school maintains high ideals and strict discipline. It encourages students to indulge in extra-curricular activities as a part of their curriculum. The school aims to inculcate the feelings of harmony and peace and making them strong individuals in the society by imparting the values of Indian culture and tradition to the students.
Hutchings High School - Formation
Hutchings High School was earlier known as The Taylor High School. The school has been named after Mrs Hutchings, who established this school. Initially, it was meant for the Anglo Indian girls. Bishop Taylor donated her small land for the purpose and the school started with a few girls students. The Anglo-Indian Home was the name given to the girls hostel that was set up on the on the campus itself. The school administration was undertaken by the methodist church located in Southern Asia. Initially the boy’s school was till class IV. Later on a coeducational institution was formed.
Inside the Campus
Hutchings High School campus is set in a calm and tranquil surrounding with lush green trees all around. The primary school holds classes from pre-nursery to class III, while the middle and high school is from class IV to X.

There are large sports grounds, fully stocked library, computer lab and a science lab. Activities organized include drama, debate, science exhibition, elocution, class excursions and art and craft exhibitions.
Hutchings High School Norms
- Regular attendance compulsory
- Students who are ill due to some infectious disease need to submit a doctor’s certificate in order to join school after recovery.
- Pupils must dress properly to school, come in clean and ironed uniforms and keep their hair neat. Girls must tie or plait their hair with ribbons (black) and boys need to have a short haircut.
- Late comers will have to pay a fine of Rs 5.
- Attendance on the last day of a school holiday and opening day of the same is a must.
- Using slang language is punishable
- Bringing magazines, pictures, journals, comics for personal reasons is not permitted by the school
- Games and P. T class is compulsory
Admission To Hutchings High School
For pre-nursery the child has to be between 2 years 6 months to 3 years 5 months and for nursery, 3 years 6 months to 4years 5 months.
Document required during submission of forms:

- Photograph
- Medical certificate
The forms are available during the December every year. Those who have a sister or brother studying in the school are given preference. For admission interviews and entrance examinations are conducted by the school.
