Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics or GIPE has been established in 1930. The Director of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics is Dr. Ajit Sinha. Founded by Gopal Krishna Gokhale, the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics is affiliated to the Univeristy of Poona.
GIPE was founded in the campus area of Servants of India Society. The University Grants Commission or UGC has recognized Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics as a Center of Advanced Study in Agricultural Economics in 1962. The contribution of this institute in the field of agricultural economics was acclaimed by UGC. The college has been recommended by the Indian Government to attain the status of a deemed university.
