Chaturshringi Temple Pune is built to pay homage to goddess Chatshrungee. This goddess is very popular in India and she is also worshiped as Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati. During the festival of Navaratra, this temple is visited by a large number of devotees. The Chaturshringi Temple is conveniently sited near Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. It was constructed during the rule of Shivaji.
Chaturshringi Temple is not only visited by the devotees of Goddess Chatshrungee but also by tourists in Pune. This temple is considered to be a popular tourist spot in Pune. The ambiance of the temple is very serene that attracts people from different parts of the state of Maharshtra. It is mostly crowded during the months of October and November of every

year as during this time the Navaratra festival is observed here.
An ancient legend is associated with Chaturshringi Temple Pune. It is believed that a trader saw Chatshrungee Devi in his dream. The goddess had asked the trader to unearth an idol of the devi. From then on her idol has been worshiped in the temple of Chaturshringi in Pune.
The literal meaning of Chaturshringi is a mountain that has four peaks. In the same temple premise of Chaturshringi there are temples of Durga and Ganesh. These small temples are located on four separate hillocks and due to this the temple is named as Chaturshringi.
