Story of Tata Steel
Tata Steel, the flagship company of the Tata Group was established in 1907 as the Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited (TISCO). It is the largest steel manufacturing company in India, and has been rated in the EVA+ category. Their manufacturing facility in Tatanagar produces 5 million tonnes of steel per annum. By 2008 the production is expected to reach 7 million tonnes. The products of Tata Steel include rolled sheets and coils, tubes, bearings, galvanized corrugated sheets, construction rods and bars, and rings.
The Journey of Tata Motors
Tata Motors, established in 1945 as Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Limited (TELCO) is involved in the production of passenger and goods vehicles. Initially the company started manufacturing heavy vehicles like trucks and buses. Towards the end of the last century, Tata Motors diversified into passenger vehicle manufacturing with Tata Estate a sports utility vehicle. Among the passenger cars, Tata Motors now manufactures, Indica, Indigo, Sumo, Safari.

- Tata Power Limited was set up in 1911 as Tata Hydroelectric Power
Supply Company. Tata Power is engaged in setting up captive power plants (CPPs), independent power plants (IPPs), power generation and distribution, and commissioning of overseas power plants. Through Tata Petrodyne, Tata Power is engaged in oil and natural gas exploration and production.
- Tata Tea set up in 1964 as a joint venture with James Finlay of England. This Tata company is headquartered in Kolkata, and owns 51 tea estates in West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. In the last financial year Apr 2006 - Mar 2007 Tata Tea produced 60 million kilograms of black tea.
- The Indian Hotels Company with its subsidiaries constitute the Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. This hotel chain has 59 hotels spread over 40 national and 17 international locations.
- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a software solution provider. It offers software consultancy, provides industrial and engineering services, does business process and infrastructure outsourcing, and provides system integration services.
- Tata Teleservices formed in 1996 was the first Indian company to start CDMA mobile services. Tata Teleservices now serves 21 million subscribers across 4000 Indian locations divided into 20 circles. Tata Sky is a satellite connection service provider. Tata Group also has a 45% share holding of VSNL, the global telecommunication service provider in India.
