Mumbai Stock Exchange was formed in 1875 as The Native Share and Stock Brokers Association. The Bombay Stock Exchange of India, the oldest stock exchange in Asia, received Indian Government's recognition in 1956. It was established with the sole objective to develop the capital market in India.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is managed by professionals under the effective direction of the Board of Directors. The Board constitutes Trading Members' representatives, eminent professionals, and the Exchange Managing Director. The Board receives benefit from the market intermediaries' stock trading participation. The Board is assisted by a management team of 25 members.

Mumbai Stock Exchange Listings
The BSE of India does an exhaustive listing of the participating companies to facilitate investors. It lists out the joint stock companies and securities separately. The change of company names is also maintained by BSE.
BSE IndoNext is an innovative step to encourage the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to enlist themselves with the BSE. These SME are often neglected because of improper publicity in the share market. In order to benefit them and also the investors, BSE prepares a separate list of these companies and invites public participation for their offerings. The SMEs thus get a fair platform for participation.
