Sachin Tendulkar


Sachin Tendulkar is a legendary figure in the field of International Cricket. This great Indian cricketer was born on 24th April, 1973 in Mumbai. His full name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. His father's name is Ramesh Tendulkar. Sachin has two brothers, Ajit Tendulkar and Nitin Tendulkar. In one-day Internationals, this world-known batsman holds the highest run record. He scored the maximum number of centuries in the Test cricket as well as in the One-day Internationals. Apart from the Indian cricket team, he also played for ACC Asian XI, Mumbai, and Yorkshire.

Sachin is also known as Little Master. He is a right-handed batsman and his bowling style is Leg break googly and Right-arm off break. Mr. Tendulkar studied at Sharadashram Vidyamandir School and Sidharth College and from his early age started practicing cricket. His Zodiac sign is Taurus. Sachin is only 5 ft 5 inch tall.

He played his first Test match against Pakistan on November, 1989. This match was held at Karachi. That same year at Gujranwala, he played his first One-day International. This match against Pakistan took place on 18th December, 1989.

He is said to be the 2nd best batsman in the field of International cricket and played the highest number of matches. According to a sports record of April, 2005 he is in fact the only cricketer to score more than 25 One-Day Internationals centuries as well as more than 11,000 runs in One-day international cricket matches.

This superb batsman was honored with a huge number of Man of the Match awards. In World Cup also Sachin Tendulkar made the highest run records. His remarkable achievements also include his crossing of 10,000 runs in ODIs against Australia (2001). He also broke the record of Gavaskar and made more than 34 centuries in Test matches. Though there are several cricketers who played in more than 100 test matches, he is considered to be the only person
to maintain the batting average of 55.

Sachin also made more than 10,000 runs in Test series. Playing ODIs against South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Zimbabwe he scored the maximum number of centuries. He has acquire international fame for being the fastest to make 10,000 runs in the history of test series. In the year 1997, Sachin was announced to be the Wisden Cricketer of the Year.

Sachin Tendulkar is highly popular for his simple batting principles. He believes in economy of movement, perfect balance, and stroke-making precision. His batting approach is quite conservative by nature but this could not prevent him from giving brilliant performances in International cricket matches.

When Sachin was only 19 years old he gave a marvelous performance at the WACA. Till now it is considered to be one of the best innings that Australia cricket ground ever experienced. He is also a favorite player of Don Bradman (a legendary figure in International cricket).

Sachin made his first Test century at Old Trafford. He was only 17 at that time. Before turning 25 he scored around 50 centuries in International cricket.

He also played an active role as a medium pace bowler and a leg spinner. He was also made the skipper of Indian cricket team. In 1996, he took over this great responsibility.

In 1998, Sachin Tendulkar was honored with the highest sporting award of India, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, whereas, in the next year he received Padma Shri, the civilian award.

In the year 1995, he married Anjali who is a Doctor by profession. He had two children named Arjun (son) and Sara (daughter).
