Ravi Shastri is a famous name in Indian cricket world. His full name is Ravishankar Jayadritha Shastri. On 27th May, 1962 he was born in Mumbai. His father's name is Dr. Jayadritha Shastri. He studied at Don Bosco School, Mumbai and under his captaincy his school won the Giles Shield. At that time BD Desai was his coach. Later he studied commerce course at the RA Podar College. In his college days also he continued playing cricket.
Ravi Shastri was a right-handed batsman and followed slow left arm orthodox bowling style. Presently, this tall and handsome man is very popular as a cricket commentator.
He had been a star player of late 80's Indian cricket team and is known as the ex- Test all-rounder. In the year 1981, he played his first Test match against New Zealand. The match was held at Wellington,England. On the other hand, his first One-day International was held in the same year at Ahmadabad (Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium)

In 1985 he was selected as the Champion of Champions in the cricket world championship, Australia. That same year he made similar records of scoring 6 sixes against Garry Sobers. On the other hand, in the field of domestic cricket, he played for Ranji Trophy and acquired fame. Apart from this he played for Glamorgan.
Mr. Shastri played as a middle-order batsman, opening batsman and left-arm spinner. He also remained Vice-captain for several years and captain for sometime. He was indeed one of the most talented cricketers of Indian cricket team. When he was 30 years old, he ended his cricket career due to knee injury. He played his last Test match against South Africa. It was held at St. George's Park. His last One-day International was also held in the same year (1992) and he played quite well against South Africa. That match took place at Kingsmead, Durban.
His wife's name is Ritu. Ravi Shastri married Ritu Singh in the year 1990.
