Born on 28th December of 1937, Ratan Tata is one of the highly established industrialists of India. Tata was born in the city of Mumbai in India. Ratan Naval Tata is the Chairman of the Tata Group. In 2000, he received the Padma Bhushan Award.
Besides holding the position of the Chairman of Tata Group, he has also taken up responsibilities of other companies maintained by the Tatas. Some of them are Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Tea, Tata Tele-services and Tata Steel.
From the Cornell University, Ratan Tata completed his B.Sc in the year 1962 in architecture.
After completing his studies, Ratan Tata decided to join the Tata Group. Very soon in 1972, he was appointed to the National Radio and Electronics Company or NELCO as its Director-in-Charge. In 1981, Ratan Tata's name got associated with
the Tata Industries as its Chairman. After joining the family business, he took up certain

strategies for the betterment of the company.
The Tata Consultancy Service made grand success under Ratan Tata. The New York Stock Exchange listed the name of the Tata Motors after Ratan Tata succeeded J.R.D Tata. Ratan Tata introduced Tata Indica to the Indian market that was suited to Indian buyers. In January, 2007 Tata acquired Corus, an aluminium and steel producing company through successful bidding.
Ratan Tata also joined the International Investment Council, as one of its members, that was established by President of South Africa. He is also associated with the foundation set up by Melinda and Bill Gates, to help the AIDS patients in India.
Ohio State University has conferred Ratan Naval Tata with a Doctorate in Business Administration. He also received the same from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. The University of Warwick has also given Tata a Doctorate in Science.
