Khamag Kakdi

To prepare Khamag Kakdi, one of the vegetarian dishes from Mumbai, it is necessary to note the basic ingredients for the dish. The main ingredient required for this dish is cucumber.

Ingredients Required for Khamag Kakdi

The ingredients required for Khamag Kakdi are easily accessible in the market. To prepare Khamag Kakdi, one big cucumber is required. Along with this main ingredient, three tablespoons of peanut powder is also required. One green chili has to be chopped for Khamag Kakdi. Along with these ingredients, one will require one teaspoon of ghee, grated coconut and half teaspoon of jeera. Salt and sugar are required
for taste and a little bit of asafoetida is also required for preparing this dish.

Method of Preparing Khamag Kakdi

Preparing Khamag Kakdi is not very tough. A very simple and convenient method is to be followed. First, the cucumber is to diced into small pieces. The cucumber for preparation of Khamag Kakdi can also be finely grated and the extra water from the cucumber is to be drained.

Then grated coconut, peanut powder, chillies and sugar and salt according to taste are to be mixed well with the cucumber. Then in a pan, ghee is to be heated. Then asafoetida and jeera in the heated pan are to be slightly fried. It has to be added to the mixture of cucumber.
