Mumbai International Film Festival


Mumbai International Film Festival is a much-awaited event for the residents of Mumbai. This film festival is held in the city of Mumbai every year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. This film festival is mainly associated with short films, documentaries and animation films.

Mumbai International Film Festival is one of the popular events in Mumbai. This film festival is attended by many film artistes and many personalities associated with the film industries of Mumbai and other countries. From 1997 this film festival has been introduced. For the first two years, this festival was held twice a year.

Awards Given at Mumbai International Film Festival

This festival offers film awards for different categories. In Mumbai International Film Festival, some of the popular categories of awards are Lifetime Achievement Awards for both Indian and International films, Significant Contribution to Indian Cinema and the International Film Critics' Award also known as FIPRESCI Prize. Mumbai International Film Festival 2008 is to be held from 3rd to 9th February in 2008. This upcoming International Film Festival will be the 10th year of the event. Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image or MAMI will be associated with this festival. Chairman of this organization is Mr. Shyam Benegal. This film festival aims at creating awareness about not only Indian films but also films from other countries.

The organizers have scheduled different programs to make the event attractive. The festival will be inaugurated with one of the popular film of the year. The Mumbai International Film Festival will screen more than hundred films in the event that will be brought form about forty countries. Films from countries like Switzerland, Germany, United States, Egypt, Bulgaria, Poland, Canada, Australia and United Kingdom will be screened at this show. Films from India will also be screened at Mumbai International Film Festival.

Mumbai International Film Festival will organize film viewing for about 12 hours per day of the event. The organizers will arrange 5 shows per day. It is expected that about 3000 delegates will attend the event. The Mumbai International Film Festival also organizes different seminars and press meetings. The seminars arranged for the purpose of this event will cover different topics related to films. The press meetings will be arranged with the reputed directors of the film industry.
