Haji Ali Dargah is situated in Worli, Mumbai and contains Haji Ali's tomb. In the year 1431 this shrine was built in the memory of a Sufi saint, Hazrath Haji Ali. This mosque is much popular for its architectural beauty and amazing location on an island on the the Arabian Sea. Devotees can use the interlinked walkway that runs in between the shrine and the shore. Only during low tides, this passage way is safe to be used. Inside this mosque, there is a courtyard.
Long History of the Holy Shrine
There is a long history behind the establishment of this holy refuge. Some of the people believe that it is a tomb of a rich saint. After his death his followers set up the shrine, whereas, others believe that this saint died while taking a trip to Mecca. Thereafter his body floated along with the tide and was found in the place, where presently this shrine has been built.
The Sacred Refuge

The structure of Haji Ali Dargah, Mumbai features minarets and Mughal-style domes. It is white in color. Though it is a sacred religious place for Muslims, Non-Muslim people are also permitted to enter this holy place. During the time of sunset, this Dargah looks wonderful from the sea coast.
Mainly on Thursdays and Fridays, around 40,000 pilgrims visit this place. This Mumbai mosque has been built following the architectural style of Indo-Islamic. It is only 500 yards away from the shoreline and covers an approximate area of 4,500 meters.
Haji Ali Dargah also has a tomb, that remains covered with a green and red-colored sheets. Inside the main hall, people will come across a number of marble-made pillars, that are decorated with colored mirrors. On those pillars, 99 names of god are embossed.
According to the Muslim traditions, for male and female worshipers, separate praying halls should be provided. This mosque also maintains this custom. There is a trust to look after this mosque.
