Suchitra Sen an eminent personality of Bengali cinema was born on 6th April in 1931. She was born in Patna in Bihar. Her debut film was Shesh Kothai which was not released. She acted in a few Hindi films other than Bengali.
Suchitra Sen was born to Karunamoy Dasgupta and Indira Dasgupta. Her birth name was Roma Dasgupta before she adopted her name for the silver screen. She married Dibanath Sen and their daughter Moon Moon Sen also made her name as an actress. Her grand daughters Raima Sen and Ria Sen have followed the footsteps of their mother and grand mother.

Suchitra Sen has been very popular throughout her career as an actress. Her charisma has not lessened even after she left the film industry. Among the actresses of Indian films, Suchitra Sen was the first to receive an award in an international film festival. She was selected the best actress for her film Saat Paake Bandha. Suchitra Sen no longer appeared on silver screen from 1978 onwards. She has restricted her outdoor visits only to Belur Math.
