South Point School is Kolkata's first co educational school affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary education. The school comprises more than 325 teachers, 13,000 students and 225 non teaching staff. The junior school has classes from nursery to class five while the high school begins from Class VI to XII. South Point Junior School is located on the Mandeville gardens while South Point High School is at Ballygunge Place. At the Guinness books of world Records ( 1984- 1992 edition) the school was recognized for being the largest school in the world. The school believes in the motto “Courage to Know” and therefore is constantly in the search for truth.
History of South Point School Kolkata
The school was founded by Mrs Pritylata Guha and Late Satikanta Guha on 1st April, in the year 1954. Initially the school was located on Mandeville Gardens in Calcutta.

The administrative work was undertaken by the South Point Education Society. The high standard of education helped the school to increase the number of students and gradually it became one of the top schools of Kolkata. The school was affiliated in January, 1957. The higher secondary section of the school, set up in the same building, was opened on 1st April, 1960. A new building for the higher classes was founded on 26th February, 1968. On April 19, 1970, the high school was shifted to this new building.
Co curricular activities at South Point School Kolkata
Students can engage in different co-curricular activities at the school campus. The different sports are basket ball, table tennis, cricket, football and many others. The student can play in the large field situated in the school campus. They can also participate in NCC camps organized by the school.
