Sivanath Sastri College is a reputed and one of the most prestigious colleges in Kolkata. This well-known college was formed after the educational movement of late nineteenth century. Ananda Mohan Bose took initiative to establish the City College and finally in the year 1961, Sivanath Sastri College was set up. It is located at 23/49, Gariahat Road (near Gol Park).
Sivanath Sastri College is purely a girls' college and is very popular for its Commerce Department. It has got affiliation form the Calcutta University and is closely associated with the City Group of Colleges. This college was basically established as a memorial to Pandit Sivanath Sastri, who was a reputed scholar and an advocate of women education and freedom.
