Rituparno Ghosh is an eminent film director from Kolkata. He has made both Hindi and Bengali movies and worked with actors from the Mumbai film industry and Calcutta film Industry. He had started off his career as an add film maker and had later on shifted to the making of Bengali feature films. The films, which has been directed so far has mostly been the story of renowned authors, though a few of them have been scripted by Ghosh himself. For some years he had hosted the television program ‘Ebong Rituparno’ (And Rituparno), which was meant for interviewing eminent personalities from the filmdom.

Awards Won by Rituparno Ghosh
The most important of the International awards won by Rituporno Ghosh is the Premico Arca D'Oro. This award was given by the Government of Italy. Many of the Rituparno Ghosh films have bagged national awards.
Early Life of Rituparno Ghosh
He comes from a family, where both his parents were into film making. His first serious interest in films surfaced when he was in the ninth standard. He was also engaged in theater and drama. His chief likings included the films of Satyajit Ray and Ritwick Ghatak. He had made the advertisements for local companies such as Boroline. Now he has come a long way to gain international recognition as an acclaimed director. In 1992 he made his directorial debute with 'Hirer Angti'(Diamond Ring), written by author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay.
