Lady Brabourne College is a well-known college in Kolkata. In the year 1939, this college was established by the West Bengal Government. After the lord Brabourne's wife, the college was named Lady Brabourne. This famous college is located in the opposite side of the Park Circus Maidan. Initially Lady Brabourne College, Calcutta started its operation in a leased house with 9 teachers and 35 Muslim students. However, with the course of time it has expanded its academic growth. The exact current location of this college is P-1/2, Suhrawardy Avenue, Kolkata- 17.

Students outside Kolkata can study in the Lady Brabourne College, as it offers proper hostel facilities. However, only meritorious students can seek admission to this hostel. Here the teacher-student relationship is quite informal. Throughout the year a number of workshops and seminars are organized in order to bring all-round developments of the students.
The teachers of this college are highly-educated and always engage themselves in research works. Presently, in many departments of this college, research projects are undergoing. These projects have got sponsorship from U.G.C.
The ex-students of this college are always encouraged to join its Alumni Association. Each year, on 25th August, the ex-students are entertained by

the present students. Dr. Sanghamitra Mukherjee is the administrative head of the college.
In 2006, Lady Brabourne College got an 'A grade' accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Since 2006, this reputed college is following a new examination system, where Part-I, Part-II and Part-III examinations are to be conducted separately.
Each year, from June to May, academic session of the college begins. Sometimes, students have to sit for admission tests to get their preferred honors subjects.
Some of the Post Graduate courses are also taught in the college. Mainly, Post Graduate courses on Mathematics, Geography and Microbiology can be studied in this college. From 2003 onwards, a M.Sc. course in Geography has been started. On the other hand, in 2005, M.Sc. in Microbiology and in 2006, M.Sc. course in Mathematics were introduced.
Added to this, the certificate computer course of the college also deserves mention. This course has a WEBEL collaboration.

The Lady Brabourne College has a library and a canteen. All through the year several seminars are organized. Stress is also given on the co-curricular activities of the students. Each year, sports events are held. Literary club, the Drama club and Students’ Welfare club are there to look after the cultural activities of the students. Name of the annual fest of this college is Kaleidoscope. Students of this college also willingly take part in the National Social Services. On the other hand, some of the students also take initiative in running a night school. It is basically meant for the under- privileged children.
In 1992, Lady Brabourne College formed its Alumni association. It arranges lectures, seminars, cultural programs, welfare projects, debates and excursions for the students.
