Indrani Sen is one of the leading singers of Kolkata. She is a versatile singer, showing equal brilliance in singing Rabindra Sangeet (songs of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore), Nazrulgeeti (songs composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam), and modern Bengali songs. She was the first singer to sing Hindi versions of Rabindra Sangeet.
Indrani Sen Early Life
Indrani Sen is the daughter of Sumitra Sen, a luminary in the field of Rabindra Sangeet . Indrani Sen had her initial music training from her mother. She took her lessons in Rabindra Sangeet from Debabrata Biswas, Nazrulgeeti lessons from Purabi Dutta and learnt classical music from Bibhuti Dutta. Biman Mukhopadhyay was also one of her teachers.
Singer Indrani Sen is also an established scholar. After graduating with Honours in Economics she completed her Master's in Economics from Jadavpur University. Currently, she is Heading the Economics Department in a Leading Kolkata college. She is also pursuing her Ph. D in Economics from University of Calcutta.

In addition to Rabindra Sangeet, Indrani Sen is equally adept in rendering Nazrulgeeti, Bhajans, Ghazals, Geets, Modern Bengali songs, and light classical songs. She is credited with singing Rabindra Sangeet in Hindi.
