State owned Kolkata Hospitals
The Calcutta hospitals which are run by the government are well established and equipped to cater to complicated medical ailments. The renowned government hospitals are:
- Medical College Hospitals - This state hospital is located in 88, College Street, Kolkata – 700 073. It can be accessed from Chittaranjan Avenue also. This hospital has outdoor, in patient, and emergency departments.
- S. S. K. M. Hospital - S. S. K. M. Hospital has the most advanced operative instruments in Calcutta. Critical patients from all over the state and from adjoining states throng to this hospital daily. Located at 244 AJC Bose Road, Kolkata – 700 020 it is a landmark in itself. - R. G. Kar Medical College – Located between Shyambazar and Belgachia in North Kolkata, this state hospital caters to outdoor, emergency, and indoor patients.

There are a number of super specialty hospitals under private management that provide excellent diagnostic and treatment facilities for patients. Some of the notable ones are:
