Goenka College of Commerce is a famous educational institute of Kolkata. It is one of the oldest colleges in India. There is a long history behind the establishment of the college. There is a long history behind the establishment of the college. In 1903, Bengal government introduced a commercial study program (2 years) at the college campus of Presidency. Later, in the year 1905, these commercial classes of Presidency were developed as a separate commercial institute. This was named as Government Commercial Institute, GCI. A number of times, this institute changed its location. In 1948, this college got affiliation from All India Council for Technical Education. Here students were offered full-time 3 years commerce course (National Diploma Commerce Course).
During the National Education Movements and anti-partition, the Goenka College of Commerce was established. However, in 1951, finally this college got its proper accommodation in Bowbazar, Calcutta. The college is now occupying the land, where once the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science was built. It is said that the Goenkas have offered this current location to the college administration. Since then, the college is known as Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration, GCCBA.
The exact location of this college is at 210, Bipin Bihari Ganguly Street, Kolkata- 12. The Sealdah Station is only half kilometer away from the college campus. To reach the Central Metro Station from this college, a person only requires five minutes time. The Medical College hospital is also situated near this Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration. By availing any mode of transportation, people can reach this college complex.
In the year, 1951, Goenka College of Commerce got affiliation from the Calcutta University.

Added to this, since 1956, the College is enjoying UGC recognition under 12B and 2f. In 2005, this prestigious college of Kolkata completed its 100th year. At present, the Goenka College of Commerce has acquired certification from NAAC.
Dr. Asthir Dasgupta is the administration head of the Goenka college. Teachers’ Council is also there to help him. On the other hand, office staff look after the daily affairs of the college.
The college offers undergraduate as well as post graduate courses under Calcutta university. In the morning and day sessions, undergraduate course is offered to boys and girls. The students here are offered Accountancy Honors course. In 2003, Goenka College got affiliation from Calcutta University for a postgraduate Commerce course. In this section, the college authority enjoys full independence.
Goenka College campus has a hostel, canteen, computer laboratory, common room and a well-stocked library. It has several departments. Some of them include:

Some of the lecturers of this colleges are Mr. Mahadev Dey, Dr. Subrata Kar, Mr. Asish Kumar Mukherjee, Mr. Tarun Kumar Sarkar, Sri Swapan Kumar Ghorai and Mr. Jayanta Kumar Mitra. On the other hand, Manju Roy Chowdhury, Sumanta Giri, Priyaranjan Chowdhury, Pintu Sarkar are some of the guest lecturers of this college.
