Don Bosco School


Don Bosco School is an Anglo India English medium school in Kolkata. It was established as a boys’ school by the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1958. Kolkata Don Bosco School within the Catholic Church is guided by their motto ‘Virtus et Scientia’ implying ‘Virtue and Knowledge’.

Don Bosco School Academics

Don Bosco School in Kolkata follows the Council for the India School Certificate Examination, New Delhi curricula for its class ten and class twelve examinations. The class X Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, and class twelve Indian School Certificate Examination are recognized throughout India.

Boys are admitted to Don Bosco School in Lower Kindergarten (LKG) class after they have attained three years and ten months of age. After taking admission in LKG, boys can study upto class XII in this school.

In addition to academic courses, this school offers technical education to students who have passed their class X board examination, in the following subjects:
  • ITI Course for Turner and Machinist
  • Technician’s Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering Technician’s Course
  • ITI Course in Television, Radio, and Electronics
  • Vocational Education Certificate
  • Computer Courses
  • Non-formal courses that comprise Wireman and Electrician Course, Wire Fabrication Course, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Course, Computer Hardware Course, Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) course, Television, Radio and electronics course.
Apart from these Don Bosco conducts free evening school for children from Nursery to class V and an adult literacy program for girls.

Don Bosco School Facilities

Additional facilities make studying in Don Bosco School a pleasure for children. There is a computerized library, three separate laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology, and a computer center for senior and primary, middle and senior classes.

The students of Don School are divided into four houses, namely: Bosco (Blue), Francis (Yellow), Rua (Green), and Savio (Red). The students participate in football, cricket, basketball, and table tennis.

Special coaching is offered in fine arts, music, karate, and scouting. Moreover there are associations like the media and cultural club, quiz club, Savio club, Cyber space club, science and nature club, philately, interact club and so on to keep the students engaged in interesting activities.
