The Calcutta International School was wet up in 1970 by the Calcutta Expatriate Community. Established under the West Bengal Society's Registration Act of 1961, the Calcutta International School works in close association with the British Council Division.
The Calcutta International School in Kolkata provides lessons in accordance to the British curriculum. It also makes effort to impart lessons to children of other countries as per their respective requirements. The school teaches children from age three onwards till 'O' Level and thereafter to 'A' level.

The medium of instruction is English right through from kindergarten to 'A' level. There are around 500 day students comprising more than 250 girls and around 220 boys. The yearly fees range from approximately Rs.13, 000/- to Rs 20,000/-.
