Ballygunge Siksha Sadan is one of the prestigious schools of Kolkata. This educational institute is located at 51-A, Gariahat Road, Ballygunge, Kolkata,West Bengal,700019. This girls' school of Calcutta was founded on 1st January in 1950. In the initial years, this school was set up at a different location before it was shifted to its present premise.
In 1949, when Balika Shiksha Sadan was shifted to a new location, all of its students could not be accommodated in the new building. For this purpose in 1950 Ballygunge Siksha Sadan in Kolkata was set up with 350 girls at 54 Gariahat Road. Then in the year 1960 Ballygunge Siksha Sadan was housed at its present location of 51-A Gariahat Road.
The Founder President of Ballygunge Siksha Sadan school was Late Shri Bhagwati Prasad Khaitan. Another eminent personality whose name is associated with the establishment of the school is Late Shri Raghunath Prasad Khaitan. There are about 2000 students enrolled with this school. The school has received affiliation from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education for class X. For class XII courses, the school has affiliation from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education.
In the primary as well as secondary classes of Ballygunge Siksha Sadan, English is used as the medium of instruction. Other than English, stress is also given on Bengali and Hindi languages. The school aims at providing not only best of the education but it also takes care of the all round development of the students. The students can participate in different co-curricular activities. The school offers training on courses like cookery, yoga, pottery and martial arts that are not a part of the curriculum of the school.
