Aquatica

A new dimension was added to the list of hangout zones in Kolkata when Aquatica was opened to the public in July 2000. Till then the city did not have a water park in its list of entertainment centers. Aquatica is situated at Kochpukur, Rajarhat, which is at a distance of about 6 kilometers from Saltlake, at the eastern fringes of Calcutta. Aquatica came as a much awaited relief to the people of Kolkata amid the hot and humid climate of the city. The park that occupies about 8 acres of land in the outskirts of the city, offers the visitors a wonderful experience with friends and family. Aquatica, that is open between 10 AM and 6 PM everyday, can accommodate about 5000 people.

Attractions at Aquatica

Kolkata's Aquatica comes with a whole lot of rides and fun events for visitors of all age groups. Some of the attractions are:
  • Aqua Wave Pool
This pool is a major attraction of Aquatica due to the changing waves. People enjoy the beach-like ambience and the car rides around it.
  • Artificial River
Aquatica has an artificial river that runs through the park. The water in the river is recycled frequently to keep it fresh and clear. People are allowed to get into the river and swim.
  • The Black Hole
The visitors can enjoy this ride that takes them to a height, travels through a dark hole and reaches the ground level.
  • Tower No. 1
This is a 100 ft high structure containing tubes through which people whisk through at high speeds. There are turns in the path, which when traveled at high speeds become a wonderful experience of excitement for the visitors.
  • Tornado
This is not as high as the Tower No. 1, but is full of enjoyment as well. The inclines are high in the Tornado and it ends at a large water pool. An adrenaline rush is felt when people fall at high speed into the pool.
  • Aqua Dance
Aquatica has in store some music as well. People drenched in water can dance away to the tunes of latest tracks and have a wonderful time in the dance floor. There are fountains that sprinkle water in the floor, soaking the dancing bodies. At times, fashion shows and Dandia parties are also organized in the Aqua Dance Floor.
  • Aqua Caffe
For the tired and hungry visitor Aquatica has Aqua Caffe, a restaurant that sells fresh and delicious food.
