The Apeejay School was established in 1975 with 50 students and five teachers. Set up by the renowned Apeejay Group belonging to Mr. Jit Paul. The school is committed to effective education and physical, mental, and moral development of all its students.
Kolkata Apeejay School is an English medium co-educational school operating from two branches in Park Street and Salt Lake. The Park Street Apeejay School started functioning in 1980, while the Salt Lake branch commenced in 1998. Both these schools are aided by Apeejay Education Trust.
Apeejay School Academics
Apeejay School Calcutta is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. Both secondary (class ten), and senior secondary (class twelve) examinations are held according to CBSE curricula.
Admission is open from class Upper KG (UKG) till class nine. Admissions forms are issued separately for Park Street and Salt Lake schools and takes place in the middle of February. The academic session is from April to March.
By the end of class five a student of Apeejay School receives lessons in English, Bengali, Hindi, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, Computer Education, Physical Education, and Art. Between class VI and VIII a pupil is gradually introduced to Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Geography, History, Civics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In the senior secondary level, students have to study English, an Indian vernacular and either Science, Commerce, or Humanities. The Science subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Computer Science, and Mathematics/ Biotechnology. The Commerce subjects comprise Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, and Mathematics/ Geography. The Humanities subjects are Political Science, Economics/ Sociology, Geography/ Mathematics, General Studies, and Health education.
Apeejay School Activities
In order to ensure all round development of its students, the school arranges numerous creative, innovative, and interactive activities for its pupils. Debates, elocution, quizzes, and creative writing sessions are held regularly. Needlework, handwork, pottery, clay modeling and gardening classes are also held for the children's development.
Games like cricket, soccer, badminton, and table tennis are held regularly for physical and mental development of the students. Annual Sports day, and Annual Prize distribution and Concert Day are two gala events where teachers, students and their parents gather. The school children put on marvelous displays of music, drama, and dance.
