School of Communication and Management Studies is one of the top business schools in India. The institute is regarded as the best management institute in Kerala. Post Graduate Diploma in Management is offered by the institute. It has tie up with University of Canberra for up gradation of teaching system and syllabus. Student and faculty exchange also takes place between SCMS and University of Canberra. The institute also received recognition from Kerala government for the programs of Mass Communication.
School of Communication and Management Studies is one of the Kochi's premier management institutes. It was established in the year 1976. This management school is supposed to be the best in Kerala and is also one among the top 20 Indian b-schools. Students from all parts of the country come to study at Kochi School of Communication and Management Studies. The programs that are offered by the institute are highly professional. The institute has also achieved ISO 9001 certification for teaching quality in management studies.
In the year 1987, Kerala Government approved the course of Mass Communication and the institute became the first one in India to obtain such government recognition. It was also recognized by the National Board of Accreditation or NBA.
Programs offered by School of Communication and Management Studies
The institute offers Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). This program is approved by AICTE. PGDM offered by School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) in Kochi has been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to MBA of universities of India. SCMS offers 12 areas of specialization in MBA. There are six trimesters in the course of MBA program. Students have to do a summer project of 40 days. PGDM can be done by the students as a regular course of two years or as a three year part time course
Admission in the School of Communication and Management Studies
For Post Graduate Diploma in Management there are 240 seats in the School. The graduates who have scored a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for admission in SCMS Cochin. The final year students can also apply. Students are short-listed on the basis of the marks obtained in CAT or MAT examinations. The short-listed students are called for General Discussion and Personal Interview in Cochin.

All types of facilities for studies and other related activities are provided to the students in this school. There is a library in the institution, which has about 17000 books related to mass communication and management. Modern teaching aids are used and necessary instruments like slide and LCD projectors, overhead projectors, television sets are present in the institute. There are three computer centers at SCMS.

The students at the School of Communication and Management Studies are indulged in various constructive co- curricular activities. They can organize workshops and meetings. Management students from other business schools are also invited for intellectual meet. Quiz programs, competitions are organized.
