Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is a sanctioned center of research, which offers Doctoral degrees in Social Work, related branches of social work and Management studies. The college is under Mahatma Gandhi University of Kerala. In the year 1994, the Department of Business Administration was introduced, which offers Master degree in Business Administration (MBA).
Rajagiri College of Social Sciences in Kochi is one of the premier institutes of Kerala, which offers courses in social work, computer science and management. The vision of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is to become a center par excellence of learning. Facility of integrated and comprehensive development of individuals is the mission of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences. The College was established in the year 1955.
History of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences
Initially the college was established as the Department of Social Work at Sacred Heart College. During that time one year diploma in Social Service was offered and the college was affiliated to Madras University. In 1968, the Post Graduate Department of Social Work was ahifted to Kalamassery in Rajagiri from Sacred Heart College. In 1980, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences was given the status of Independent College and affiliation was given by Kerala University.
At present, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is affiliated to Kerala's Mahatma Gandhi University. In 2001, the course of Bachelor of Library and Information Science was introduced in the college.
Location of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences
The college has two campuses, which are 8 km away from each other. The first campus is at Kalamassery's Hill Campus. This campus has the departments of Rajagiri School of Social Work, Rajagiri School of Library and Information Science and Rajagiri School of Computer Science. Rajagiri School of Management is at Kakkanad's Valley Campus.
