Dr. Sebastian Paul is a Member of Parliament of the 14th Lok Sabha in India. He is a member representing the Ernakulam constituency in Kerala. He is not affiliated to any political party in the state and contested the elections independently.
Dr. Sebastian Paul was born to Mr. M.S Paul and Mrs. Annamma Paul on 1st May 1947 in Ernakulam, Kerela. An educated man, Dr. Paul, completed his education from Cochin University of Science and Technology. He holds a Masters degree in English and Political Science. Later he completed his LL.M as well as Ph.D. He is an advocate and journalist by profession. However, his first appointment with the electorate came in 1997 when he contested and was elected to 11th Lok Sabha in a by-election.
Eleventh Lok Sabha was dissolved in December 1997. Though defeated in the 12th Lok Sabha elections in 1998, Dr. Sebastian Paul could
ensure his presence in politics when he was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly the same year. Year 2003-04 was eventful for Dr. Paul. He was a member in the Committee on

External affairs as well as a member of the Committee on Provision of Computers for MPs. He was also elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 2003 and reelected to the 14th Lok Sabha in 2004. From 25th August 2006 onwards, he is a member of the Committee of Privileges.
He has also been writing regularly in many newspapers and journals on various topics. His works have been published in various English and Malayalam newspapers and journals. Mostly dealing with current affairs, the articles have made an impact on the general people of the country. He has also visited countries like UAE and Qatar.
Dr. Sebastian Paul is a recipient of the K.V. Daniel Award for his immense contribution to journalism. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Kerala Press Academy and an associate editor of a Malayalam daily newspaper, Deshabhimani.
He tied the knot with Lizamma Augustine on 26th December 1976. His immediate family comprises of his wife and three sons.
