Cochin Passport Office is located in Panampilly Nagar of Kochi. It is operating as an independent body from 1975. It has got control over the districts of Trichur, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Union Teritory of Lakshadweep. Cochin Passport Office has become computerized from 1994. It functions from Monday to Friday.
Cochin Passport Office started functioning autonomously from 1975 onwards. It was the result of a bifurcation of the region of Kerala from the jurisdiction of the Chennai Regional Passport Office. Earlier the Passport Office of Kochi had control over all the districts of Kerala that also included Lakshadweep and Mahe Union Territories. But now the Regional Passport Office Cochin has got control over the districts of:
- Trichur
- Alappuzha
- Kottayam
- Idukki
- Ernakulam
- Union Teritory of Lakshadweep
Previously, the Cochin Passport Office used to carry out its functions from a rented building. But it got shifted to its current location in 1994. This building has got 6 floors and is owned by the government. In the month of November in 1994, the National Informatics Centre (Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India) computerized the entire Regional Passport Office of Cochin.
The various facilities that are available at the Cochin Passport Office are as follows:

- Computerized storage and retrieval of old records are available.
- Confirmation of other region passports through internet (PISON).

- Delivery of passports through speed post service.
- Computerized prior approval category checking.
The Cochin Passport Office operates from Monday to Friday. The office timings of various departments are as follows:
- The forms are sold from the Information Counter from 9.30 am to 3.00 pm.
- The scrutiny and acceptance of the passport application forms take place from 9.30 am and 1.00 pm.
- The meetings with the concerned officer can be had from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm.
- The delivery of passports at the counter takes place between 2 pm and 5 pm.
