Thirukkalukkundram Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, lies on the way to Kancheepuram from Mamallapuram. Everyday during the afternoon hours, two white eagles visit the temple. They are fed by the temple priest. Below the temple there lies a larger temple, which has got a tank. This tank is believed to possess curative powers.

At this hour everyday, the priest of the temple feeds two white eagles, who visit the temple. They are believed to be two saints who make a halt on their journey from Rameshwaram to Varanasi.

Thirukkalukkundram Temple of Chennai lies at a distance of 70 kilometers from the proper city. It is also known as the Vedagirishvara Temple after the name of the hill Vedagiri. There is a large Shiva Temple below this temple that has got a tank. This tank is believed to have curative powers. After every 12 years, a conch is found in the tank and these conches have been kept inside the temple.
