Sivaji Ganesan was a well known actor of the Tamil film industry. He was born in 1928. His film career started with the film named Parasakthi. He acted only in two Hindi movies. He has been received several accolades like Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Sivaji Ganesan was a superstar of Tamil film industry. He was born to Chiniah Pillai and Rajamani Ammal on 1 October 1928 at Sirkali of Tamil Nadu. His original name is Villupuram Chinnaiahpillai Ganesan. He is referred to as ‘The Marlon Brando of South Indian Cinema’. He got his name ‘Shivaji’ after acting in 'Sivaji Kanda Indhu Rajyam' of CN Annadurai. He is sometimes called Nadigar Thilagam and Nadippu Chakravarthy.
Career of Sivaji Ganesan
His interest in theatres made him run away from his home at the tender age of nine years. His first film was released in 1952. It was named Parasakthi. He was cast opposite to Pandari Bai. He has acted in several South Indian movies and two Hindi movies and has earned a huge repute.

Sivaji Ganesan and Politics
He was the supporter of DMK party till 1955. But from 1961 onwards, he started supporting Indian National Congress particularly K Kamaraj. After K Kamaraj’s death, he became loyal to Indira Gandhi. He became the Member of Parliament in 1982. He formed his own political party named Thamizhaga Munnetra Munnani in 1987. In 1989, he was elected the President of the Tamil Nadu faction of Janata Dal.
This renowned actor breathed his last breath on 21st July, 2001 at the Madras Apollo Hospital.
