The radio station has its headquarters in Delhi but broadcasting is done from all the major cities in India. All India Radio Chennai broadcasts programs through the frequencies 720, 1017, 4920, 102.3, 7160, 783 and 101.4 kHz. Anna FM 90.4 is the first community radio in India. The radio station is perceived to be the mouth piece of the communities. The station is run by department coordinators and by people from the Department of Media Science. However, the work is voluntary. Anna FM 90.4 stresses on the development of the communities by promoting educational programs. The radio airs programs on health, rural development, education and so on. The station works throughout the week and airs programs between 5.30- 9.30 p.m.
